Ferries to and from Mykonos,
Santorini, and other Greek islands

Please don't stress out about ferries !
Unless you are traveling August 1 - 20 or with a car, there will always be a place for you. ( Even then, there is hardly a problem )
You don't need to book in advance, unless it's a special holiday or you choose the super fast ferries on a weekend.
Nowadays, most ferries are big, luxurious, fun, civilized, and with tons of passenger space.
The only problem is if there are severe winds. 7+ Beaufort, in which case trips are cancelled and you are a victim of "nature's caprice". A sense of humor goes a long way. Much better than being caught in a French train strike ...
Mykonos and Santorini have AT LEAST 2 ferries daily from Piraeus and Rafina ports. Normally, one of them leaves at 7:25 or 8:00 in the morning, and the other one around 5:00 or 6:00 in the afternoon. If you are going to Mykonos you should go to Rafina port which is close to the Athens airport. Regular bus service from the airport ( hourly ). The big, slow ferry takes about 5 hours and the small fast ones about 2 1/2 hours.
If you are going to Santorini you should go to Piraeus.
The best ferries going to Santorini are " Blue Star Paros" and " Blue Star Naxos". They take about 7 hours to get to Santorini and normally stop very briefly in Paros, Naxos, and Ios. There are "1 million" travel agents on both ports that will tell you when, how, and how much.1 week before you arrive just visit the sites below (especially Blue Star ferries and Greek ferries ) and you will be fine. OK ???, If you miss the boat , just go eat fresh seafood, sleep well, and try again the next day. YOU ARE ON HOLIDAY !
