IMPORTANT NOTES : After living in Mykonos for 3 years, we can safely claim that we know the island inside out. The key to obtaining a good room & rate is to book well in advance! Due to the proximity to Athens, frequency of flights, and superfast catamarans, rooms can fill up very fast with Athenians deciding at the spur of the moment to spend a few days on the island. In the case of Mykonos, last minute bookings can actually cost you more. If you are a confirmed party animal you should stay in town or within walking distance from town. If you are not you should stay in Platis Gialos, or Aghios Ioannis beaches, which are close to town and have regular bus service ( 80 cents each way ) and cheap taxi fares ( about 6 euros each way from the town or the port, and 9 euros from the airport) Platis Gialos , or between town and Platis Gialos is our TOP location choice. Beautiful beach with many great restaurants, and water sports. Winner of the "Blue Flag Award" for safety, good organization & no-pollution beach. Beach lifeguard.
Platis Gialos is within walking distance to Paranga Beach and Psarou Beach . A 10 minute bus ride to town every half hour in high season. Boat to Delos leaves at 10:15 every morning and returns at 3:15 . This is where all the small boats come and go to the other beaches such as Super Paradise. There are thousands of places where you could stay, however what's listed below will almost certainly provide you with an unforgettable experience. We strongly recommend to avoid the August 1 - August 20 period.
